Your flight, your rights

If you arrive at your destination over three hours late due to a missed connecting flight, you have the right to compensation — plus some additional benefits at the airport.

Based on the EU Passenger Rights Regulation, you could be due anywhere between £220 to £520 depending on the length of your flight. Additionally, it’s the airlines responsibility to either rebook you on the next available flight or, if there isn’t one that day, the first leaving the next morning. If that’s the case, they’ll also need to put you up in a hotel and cover your meals.

Airmiles have never been more valuable

If you’ve flown in the EU, or with an EU airline in the past 6 years and meet the regulation criteria, you could land hundreds in compensation.

Stick to the flight path

For any compensation to be valid, your delayed journey must be under one continuous booking.

If this is the case, it does not matter what airline you travel with. However, if you booked each flight separately, with different airlines, there is nothing anyone can do if you miss your connecting flight.
